The Colossus of Rhodes (Ancient Greek: ὁ Κολοσσὸς Ῥόδιος, romanized: ho Kolossòs Rhódios Greek: Κολοσσός της Ρόδου, romanized: Kolossós tes Rhódou)^[a] was a statue of the Greek sun-god Helios, erected in the city of Rhodes, on the Greek island of the same name, by Chares of Lindos in 280 BC. One of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, it was constructed to celebrate the successful defence of Rhodes city against an attack by Demetrius Poliorcetes, who had besieged it for a year with a large army and navy.

The Giza Plateau of Egypt, located about 15 miles southwest of modern Cairo, is one of the most important and famous archaeological sites in the world. It is home to the Great Pyramid, the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World still standing. Built by King Khufu in the Fourth Dynasty of ancient Egypt’s Old Kingdom (around 2550 BCE), the Great Pyramid was the largest ever constructed in Egypt, originally reaching a height of 481 feet. Two of Khufu’s successors also built major monuments at Giza: Khafre, whose burial complex includes the second-largest pyramid as well as the Great Sphinx; and Menkaure, builder of the smallest of the three pyramids at Giza. As these royal complexes were being constructed, and even for centuries after Egyptian kings began to build their monuments elsewhere, hundreds of tombs were systematically added to cemeteries surrounding the pyramids, to serve as the eternal resting places for the royal family and bureaucratic elite.

تقع هضبة الجيزة في مصر على بعد حوالي 15 ميلاً جنوب غرب القاهرة الحديثة ، وهي واحدة من أهم وأشهر المواقع الأثرية في العالم. فهي موطن الهرم الأكبر ،
 وهو الوحيد من عجائب الدنيا السبع القديمة الذي لا يزال قائما. بناه الملك خوفو في الأسرة الرابعة من مملكة مصر القديمة القديمة (حوالي 2550 قبل الميلاد) ، 
وكان الهرم الأكبر هو الأكبر على الإطلاق في مصر ، حيث بلغ ارتفاعه في الأصل 481 قدمًا. قام اثنان من خلفاء خوفو أيضًا ببناء نصب تذكارية رئيسية

المقابر بشكل منهجي إلى المقابر المحيطة بالأهرامات ، لتكون بمثابة أماكن للراحة الأبدية للعائلة المالكة والنخبة البيروقراطية.
